A varied role where you can make a difference

Central Chemical Services is looking for an organised, practical and curious Administration Assistant to join our small team. This is an opportunity to do more than keep on top of paperwork: you'll help the business run smoothly, improve the way we work and get more from the systems and software we already use.

You'll bring confidence with everyday IT, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and ideally some familiarity with CRM systems. Just as important are your initiative, willingness to learn and instinct for spotting a better way to do something. You don't need to know everything on day one β€” we're interested in someone who asks good questions and enjoys making things work better.

Salary depends on experience but can be discussed.

What you'll be doing

  • Improve processes - Work with the team to review existing procedures and find practical ways to make day-to-day work simpler and more efficient.
  • Get to know the operation - Build an understanding of the team's core tasks and processes. This will include spending a day or two in the field with colleagues, with the opportunity to undertake external accredited training similar to that completed by field staff.
  • Make better use of systems - Explore useful features in our existing software and identify ways to improve efficiency, compliance, and how our services are presented to customers.
  • Bring CRM into everyday working - Help integrate our existing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system into the team's processes and working practices as they are reviewed and improved.
  • Provide reliable admin support - Help with general administration and the practical tasks that keep the business organised and running smoothly.

How the role works

This is a part-time position, with hours to be agreed around the needs of the business and the successful candidate. There may be flexibility in how those hours are arranged. Good communication and collaboration will be important, and regular face-to-face meetings in Glastonbury will be required - ideally at least once a month.

Who we're looking for

You may be a great fit if you are:

  • Organised, dependable and comfortable managing your own work.
  • Confident using Microsoft Word and Excel, and willing to learn new software and systems.
  • A practical problem-solver who takes initiative and notices opportunities to improve things.
  • A clear communicator who enjoys working with others in a small team.
  • Interested in how a business operates and keen to develop your skills.

Room to grow

As you get to know the business, there may be opportunities to become involved in other areas, depending on your interests, strengths and the needs of the company. The role could give you scope to broaden your experience, learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities over time.
