About the role
We are recruiting an Environmental Health Officer/ Food Safety Officer to work within our Food & Health and Safety team delivering on food hygiene, food standards (in caterers and retail), health & safety and infectious diseases.
Responsibilities
- Undertake food hygiene inspections across a broad range of businesses from retailers and caterers, up to large manufacturers and approved premises.
- Investigate food hygiene and standards complaints.
- Deal with infectious disease notifications and outbreaks.
- Complete food standards inspections at retailers and caterers; preferred experience in this discipline.
Qualifications and Experience
- Registered with CIEH as either a Chartered or EHRB registered Environmental Health Officer, a Registered EHP/Registered Food Safety Practitioner, or equivalent.
- Hold a qualification as listed in the Food Law Code of Practice.
- Minimum 12 months experience working in a regulation and enforcement role within Food Safety and ideally Health and Safety.
- Experience working with businesses under the Primary Authority provisions (preferred).
- Full driving licence and ability to make front line visits.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of working autonomously as a home‑worker.
- Good organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
