As a Technical Support Officer, you will be contributing to the Council's core aim to enable people to live active, healthy, and independent lives by providing the first point of contact in the team for enquiries relating to private tenants living conditions. You will manage the triage process, undertaking some information gathering and site visits where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will provide support to colleagues elsewhere in the Private Sector Housing Team including monitoring the service mailbox, responding to telephone calls, and carrying out triage actions relating to complaints about housing conditions and public health issues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • You should be able to display excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • It will also be necessary to demonstrate excellent numeracy and attention to detail to carry out accurate financial assessments and to protect public monies.
  • You should either hold a qualification in a relevant subject at a minimum of level 4 or demonstrate considerable experience in a similar role.

Technical Skills & Other Requirements

  • You should be able to demonstrate good IT skills and experience.
  • You will be expected to plan and prioritise your workload effectively and to use your initiative (respecting procedure and regulation).
  • You should be able to explain complex information clearly, both verbally and in writing, and fluency in English is essential.
  • Knowledge of housing-related environmental health legislation and the benefits/welfare system would be considered desirable rather than essential.
