About the role: Central Bedfordshire Council is a large unitary authority serving just over 300,000 residents with a vision to be a great place to live and work. One of the ways we are achieving this is through our use of technology. We are seeking an experienced and strategic SAP Manager on a fixed term contract for 6 months to lead the delivery, optimisation, and support of our SAP landscape. This role is critical in driving the effective use of SAP technologies across the organisation, including SAP SuccessFactors, SAP S/4HANA, and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), particularly in support of Finance, Procurement and HR functions.

As a SAP Manager, you will provide both technical leadership and people management, overseeing a team of SAP specialists while working closely with service areas, our SAP Partner and directly with SAP to ensure high-quality service delivery, continuous improvement, and alignment with business objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Development of the SAP roadmap ensuring alignment with organisational activities.
  • Subject matter expertise across Success Factors, S/4HANA and SAC.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the SAP platform.
  • Primary relationship owner for SAP and 3rd party partners.
  • Team leadership of a team of 5 SAP experts.
  • Communications of system changes, roadmap updates and performance insights.

To join this team at this exciting time we are looking for a strategic thinker who can balance long‑term vision with operational delivery at the same time as building relationships across the relevant service areas. Your leadership experience will be invaluable to be able to lead and develop the team. Although not essential it would be useful if you also had experience in Finance systems and HR processes and the associated processes within SAP. Familiarity with integration tools and SAP architecture plus an understanding of ITIL or service management frameworks would be useful.

The successful candidate will be working full time for the first two weeks from the office at Priory House, Shefford for a full induction period. This role is being offered as a fixed term opportunity. Please note we are unable to offer sponsorship for our roles. Successful applicants that may require a visa will need to consider the options for obtaining and/or maintaining the legal right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the contract offered.
