Base Salary: £52,547.00

Top Point Salary: £55,929.00

We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join our modern, innovative Highways Service team as an Integrated Transport Manager within the Traffic Management Service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to making Central Bedfordshire a great place to live and work.

You will support the delivery of the Highways Service, working closely with the Head of Traffic Management and managing the Integrated Transport Team. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a team delivering traffic improvement and road safety schemes, and will be skilled in policy development, traffic calming, accessibility, and road safety schemes, including traffic regulation orders. You will assess traffic impacts using data-driven approaches.

Your team will handle requests for highway infrastructure improvements such as traffic signs, road markings, pedestrian crossings, footways, and other low-cost highway improvements. You will also assist in developing the council’s annual program and long-term strategies for scheme delivery.

This role requires collaboration with senior officers, elected members, and other council teams to ensure network management aligns with council priorities and policies.

Qualifications include experience in traffic engineering/management, knowledge of highway and traffic legislation (Highways Act, Traffic Signs Regulations and Directions, Traffic Management Act), data analysis, policy writing, and the ability to work in complex environments. Strong communication skills, organization, and a team-focused approach are essential.

  • Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE)
  • Foundation Degree
  • Higher National Diploma (HND)
  • Level 5 Award, Certificate, or Diploma
  • Level 5 NVQ (e.g., Solicitors, Librarians, Social Workers, Surveyors)
  • Ordinary Degree
  • Full professional qualification or equivalent
