Salary:

  • Passenger Assistant (CBG3) - £25,185 per annum pro rata, or £13.06 per hour
  • Driver (CBG4) - £25,583 per annum pro rata, or £13.27 per hour

Hours: Various Hours available - Relief 0 hours – as required by the service. And 25 hours per week - Full year and TTO Staff.

Base Location: Thorn Turn Depot, Grendall Lane, Houghton Regis, LU5 6GJ

Contract Type: Relief/ Permanent - Fixed

About the role:

Our Fleet Transport team provides safe, efficient transport for a range of residents. They include older people, those with disabilities and children with special needs. The service allows these people to access educational and day care facilities – helping to make Central Bedfordshire a great place to work and live.

The Fleet Department is looking for Drivers & Passenger Assistants to join our dedicated team. Staff will be based at in Houghton Regis, Thorn Turn Depot.

You need to be an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to safely transport people and pupils using council minibuses and passenger lift equipment, to and from various day centres, schools and other establishments as required. GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE MAYBE IN SEMI RETIREMENT OR JUST LOOKING FOR A PART TIME ROLE.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have a category D1 driving license (driver role only)
  • Provide a caring and reliable service to people
  • Be patient and understanding
  • Be aware of issues surrounding disability, dementia and special needs
  • Be punctual and polite
  • Treat every person with dignity and respect

Some training will be given, and we also supply uniform and allowances for equipment.
