About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Emergency Duty Team to support the service as a Casual Level 3 Social Worker. This role involves being contacted to complete community visits for adults or children, which can include assessments, providing appropriate adult support, or casual support as required.
The Emergency Duty Team (EDT) offers an out-of-hours emergency social work service, hosted by Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) and serving Bedford Borough Council (BBC) and Luton Borough Council (LBC). EDT responds to emergency social care situations that cannot wait until the next working day, ensuring immediate protection and safeguarding of children, young people, and adults at risk of harm, within the relevant legislative framework.
You will be responsible for delivering statutory duties supporting adults and children in social care, focusing on compassionate, responsive, and high-quality support that demonstrates best value and puts people at the centre of their care.

Essential requirements for the role:
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
- Qualified Social Worker or Nurse
- Degree in Social Work or equivalent
- Registration with Social Work England
- Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in statutory children’s or adult services
- Strong decision-making skills in high-pressure environments
- Understanding of legal frameworks governing safeguarding and mental health
