Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Community Safety Manager to provide leadership and strategic oversight across the Community Safety service. This role is central to the Council’s approach to protecting residents, supporting victims and maintaining safe, resilient communities. You will lead teams delivering frontline services including anti-social behaviour, environmental protection, and CCTV. The post holder will also play an active role in shaping service direction, managing budgets and representing the Council in local and statutory partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and performance manage the service
  • Provide oversight and direction on complex and high-risk cases
  • Ensure effective, compliant delivery of the CCTV service
  • Co-ordinate the Council’s response to Prevent
  • Manage the Central Bedfordshire Community Safety Partnership
  • Represent the Council within partnerships and provide leadership within multi-agency forums
  • Manage budgets, monitor expenditure and income, and support financial planning
  • Drive service improvement and transformation to improve outcomes for residents
  • Ensure services are delivered in line with legislation, safeguarding duties and best practice

About You

You will be an experienced community safety professional with a strong track record of managing complex and high-risk cases. You will bring a confident, professional leadership style, with the ability to manage teams, set clear expectations and make sound decisions in challenging situations. You will have an excellent understanding of relevant legislation, safeguarding duties and the operation of Community Safety Partnerships, and be comfortable working at an operational and strategic level with internal and external partners.
