Teaching Assistant (Level 2) – Pathways

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Campus

Salary: Between £24,720 and £29,870 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications

Hours/Weeks: Up to 37 hours per week

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to join our Foundation Learning department at The Bedford College Group.

Responsibilities

  • Student Support & Inclusion – Assist students with educational, personal, and social needs, promoting inclusion and supporting those with special educational needs, including administering first aid when required.
  • Classroom & Curriculum Assistance – Support tutors by preparing learning materials, contributing to lesson planning, and maintaining classroom discipline. Provide cover for absent tutors and help implement EHCPs and support plans.
  • Learning Resource Management – Organise and maintain teaching resources, including ICT and AV equipment, ensuring efficient use and availability for lessons and activities.
  • Collaboration & Operational Support – Work closely with tutors, SENDCOs, and other staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, including covering for absent colleagues and supporting curriculum delivery.
  • Professional Conduct & Development – Maintain confidentiality, uphold safeguarding and equality policies, and actively participate in training, staff meetings, and performance management processes.

About You

  • Qualifications & Experience – Holds an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and has at least six months of recent experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
  • Educational Support Skills – Understands the educational needs of young learners and is capable of planning and delivering engaging educational activities.
  • Collaboration & Independence – Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, contributing positively to a collaborative learning environment.
  • IT & Practical Abilities – Confident using IT in classroom settings and capable of meeting the physical needs of students as required.
  • Commitment & Flexibility – Demonstrates a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, with a flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake further training.
