Lecturer – Maths

Location: Tresham College – Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough Campuses, Northamptonshire.

Salary: Β£33,048 – Β£38,169 per annum (DOE and Qualifications), plus up to Β£3,000 market supplement for suitable candidates.

Annual leave: 45 days plus bank holidays. Pension: Teacher’s pension. Other benefits: Retail and Leisure Discounts, professional development opportunities, college courses.

Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Contract: Permanent – Full Time.

Right to work: UK only, no sponsorship.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Maths to join our English & Maths department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you will play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, inclusive Maths lessons across various levels, supporting learner achievement and progression.
  • Contributing to curriculum innovation, quality assurance and aligning provision with national priorities and learner needs.
  • Providing tutorials, feedback and pastoral care to promote wellbeing, independent learning and positive behaviour.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and external partners to enhance employability outcomes, safeguard, EDI, and health & safety.
  • Maintaining professional competence, supporting new staff, leading curriculum areas if qualified, and participating in college-wide initiatives.

About You

  • Essential Qualifications – Relevant degree or Level 5 in Maths, teaching qualification (CertEd/PGCE or willingness to achieve), and GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
  • Teaching Experience & Knowledge – Recent experience teaching GCSE Maths, understanding of FE reform and safeguarding, and success in supporting diverse learners.
  • Skills & Competencies – Strong communication, classroom management, lesson planning, and ICT proficiency including Microsoft 365 and digital platforms.
  • Professional Attributes – Inclusive, reflective, collaborative, committed to continuous improvement, college values and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Flexibility & Compliance – Enhanced DBS, willingness to travel across college sites, awareness of health and safety, possession of a full driving licence with vehicle access.
