About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Hairdressing and Barbering to join our Hair and Beauty department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching & Student Development – Deliver high-quality Hairdressing and Barbering lessons across various levels, supporting students to achieve their full potential through engaging and inclusive teaching.
- Assessment & Progress Monitoring – Assess student work to awarding body standards, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records of progress, taking action to support student achievement.
- Curriculum & Resource Development – Contribute to curriculum innovation, develop engaging learning materials, and ensure learning environments are inclusive, diverse, and meet health and safety standards.
- Collaboration & Administration – Work with colleagues and support staff to enhance learning experiences, manage classroom behaviour, and complete administrative tasks such as registers and reports.
- Safeguarding & Professional Growth – Uphold responsibilities in safeguarding, equality, and health and safety, while actively engaging in CPD and training to stay current in industry and teaching practices.
About You
- Qualifications & Industry Experience – Holds Level 3 Hairdressing and Level 2/3 Barbering qualifications, assessor and teaching credentials, with recent industry experience and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Teaching & Curriculum Skills – Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching, prepare lesson plans and schemes of work, track student progress, and manage behaviour across various levels and age groups.
- Professional Values & Teamwork – Demonstrates alignment with values such as Student Centred, Inclusive, and Educational Excellence, while contributing positively to team goals and respecting diverse perspectives.
- Communication & Organisation – Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate confidently across platforms and manage time and tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
- Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding responsibilities, maintaining professional boundaries, and working flexibly across locations and schedules, with awareness of health and safety standards.
