About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in English to join our English & Maths department at The Bedford College Group.
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across multiple levels, using inclusive methods to support learner achievement and progression.
- Contribute to curriculum design and quality assurance processes, aligning provision with national priorities and learner/employer needs.
- Provide tutorials, feedback and pastoral care to promote wellbeing, independent learning and positive behaviour and attendance.
- Work with colleagues and external partners to enhance employability outcomes, while promoting safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety.
- Maintain professional competence, support new staff, lead curriculum areas if qualified and participate in college-wide initiatives.
About You
- Essential Qualifications: Degree or Level 5 in English, teaching qualification (CertEd/PGCE or willingness to achieve), and GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above).
- Teaching Experience: Recent experience teaching GCSE English, understanding of FE reform and safeguarding, success in supporting diverse learners to achieve.
- Skills & Competencies: Strong communication, classroom management, lesson planning and ICT proficiency including Microsoft 365 and digital platforms.
- Professional Attributes: Inclusive, reflective, collaborative and committed to continuous improvement, college values and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Flexibility & Compliance: Enhanced DBS, willingness to travel across college sites, awareness of health and safety, possession of a full driving licence with access to a vehicle.
