Lecturer – Early Years
Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus
Salary/Benefits: Between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum (Pro‑Rata). 45 days annual leave pro‑rata, bank holidays, teacher’s pension, retail and leisure discounts, and professional development opportunities.
Hours/Weeks: 30 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Early Years to join our Health, Social Care and Childcare department within the Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer you will play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching & Student Support – Deliver engaging lessons across a range of Early Years programmes and levels, provide tutorials, and support students to achieve their full potential through high‑quality learning experiences.
- Curriculum Development & Innovation – Prepare and review schemes of work, contribute to new course development, and integrate vocational opportunities to enhance student learning and employability.
- Assessment & Quality Assurance – Assess student work to awarding body standards, monitor progress, maintain records, and implement quality processes including feedback and course reviews.
- Collaboration & Professional Engagement – Work effectively with colleagues, mentor new staff, attend meetings across campuses, and support promotional events such as open days and careers conventions.
- Statutory Responsibilities & Values – Uphold safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and participate in ongoing training and development, ensuring all actions reflect the Bedford College Group’s values and policies.
About You
- Qualifications & Teaching Expertise – Holds a relevant subject qualification at least one level above the course taught and a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed), with experience delivering T‑Level Early Years programmes.
- Sector Knowledge & Experience – Demonstrates strong understanding of Early Years and Health & Social Care teaching, with recent experience in both education and industry settings.
- Professional & Technical Skills – Excellent classroom management, communication, organisation, and prioritisation skills, alongside strong numeracy and IT proficiency (Microsoft Office).
- Adaptability & Collaboration – Able to work independently and within a team, manage workload under pressure, meet deadlines, and build professional relationships across the college.
- Values & Safeguarding Commitment – Works in line with the Bedford College Group’s values and policies, including safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety, with flexibility to travel and adapt working hours as needed.
