Join Central Bedfordshire College as a Lecturer in the Health, Social Care and Childcare department.

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus

Salary: £31,930 – £36,878 per annum (Pro‑Rate) DOE and Qualifications

Annual leave: 45 days pro‑rate plus bank holidays

Hours: 30 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract: Permanent – Part time

Contract type: UK – Right to work required; no sponsorship offered

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching & Student Support: Deliver engaging lessons across a range of levels and qualifications, provide tutorials, and support students to achieve their full potential through high‑quality learning experiences.
  • Curriculum Development & Innovation: Prepare and review schemes of work, contribute to new course development, and integrate vocational opportunities to enhance student learning and employability.
  • Assessment & Quality Assurance: Assess student work to awarding body standards, monitor progress, maintain records, and implement quality processes including feedback and course reviews.
  • Collaboration & Professional Engagement: Work effectively with colleagues, mentor new staff, attend meetings across campuses, and support promotional events such as open days and careers conventions.
  • Statutory Responsibilities & Values: Uphold safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and participate in ongoing training and development, ensuring all actions reflect The Bedford College Group’s values and policies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant subject qualification at least one level above the course being taught.
  • Recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd).
  • Recent teaching experience and industry background in childcare or health and social care.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong numeracy and IT proficiency (Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage workload under pressure, and build professional relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Maintains confidentiality, attention to detail and professional standards in line with safeguarding, EDI and health & safety.
  • Willingness to travel across campuses, adapt working hours to meet business needs and uphold appropriate boundaries with learners while continuously developing professionally.
