Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Programme Manager in Engineering to join our Engineering department at The Bedford College Group. As a Programme Manager, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Curriculum Leadership – Lead the development and delivery of engineering programmes that are innovative, industry-relevant, and aligned with employer needs and strategic growth priorities.
  • Quality & Student Outcomes – Drive high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure student success, progression, and achievement exceed national benchmarks.
  • Team & Resource Management – Manage engineering curriculum staff, oversee recruitment and development, and ensure consistent application of college policies and performance standards.
  • Teaching & Professional Practice – Deliver a fractional teaching timetable in engineering, maintain awarding body standards, and support continuous improvement in pedagogy and learner engagement.
  • College-Wide & Statutory Duties – Contribute to cross-campus activities, uphold safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and engage in ongoing professional development to support college-wide initiatives.

About You

  • Qualifications & Industry Expertise – Recognised teaching qualification and a degree or substantial experience in an engineering discipline, with credibility in leading subject-specific provision.
  • Leadership & Management Experience – Proven success in managing teams within Further Education, including course leadership, performance monitoring, and supporting Ofsted inspections.
  • Curriculum & Quality Skills – Strong understanding of quality assurance systems, data-driven course improvement, and the ability to deliver high-quality learning experiences across engineering levels.
  • Professional & Interpersonal Skills – Effective communicator and team collaborator with the ability to motivate staff, influence at all levels, and maintain professional standards and boundaries.
  • Commitment & Flexibility – Willingness to travel across campuses, adapt working hours, uphold safeguarding and health & safety responsibilities, and engage in continuous professional development.
