About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Business to join our Business department at The Bedford College Group. As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- High‑Quality Business Teaching – Plan, deliver and assess engaging Business lessons (Levels 1–3, BTEC, T Levels), differentiate for diverse learners including SEND, and provide timely, developmental feedback to drive achievement.
- Learner Support & Progress Monitoring – Track attendance, engagement and progress; act as a personal tutor; set and review targets through ILPs; promote positive behaviour; and guide learners toward HE, apprenticeships or employment.
- Curriculum Development & Employer Engagement – Contribute to curriculum planning, align provision with labour‑market needs, build employer links for placements and enrichment, and support course reviews and quality improvement.
- Quality Assurance & Professional Practice – Maintain accurate records, comply with IV/EQA/audit processes, engage in self‑assessment and CPD, attend meetings and events, and collaborate with teaching, ALS, safeguarding and support teams.
- Business Knowledge & Industry Awareness – Apply strong subject expertise (marketing, finance, HR, operations, enterprise), understand sector expectations, use digital learning tools effectively, and embed inclusive strategies that meet awarding‑body and FE requirements.
About You
- Qualifications & Professional Foundations – Degree in Computer Science or related subject and a teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve), with strong understanding of FE teaching, learning and assessment expectations.
- Business & Curriculum Knowledge – Sound knowledge of Business subject areas (marketing, finance, enterprise, management), vocational qualifications (BTEC, T Level, Access), quality assurance processes, digital learning technologies, and progression pathways.
- Teaching Experience & Learner Support – Experience delivering lessons, assessing work, supporting mixed‑ability and SEND learners, monitoring progress and implementing interventions, and working collaboratively within curriculum teams.
- Pedagogical & Professional Skills – Ability to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons, manage classrooms effectively, provide high‑quality feedback, use data to improve outcomes, meet administrative/QA deadlines, and communicate confidently with learners, families and colleagues.
- Values, Motivation & Professional Commitment – Strong commitment to high‑quality teaching, safeguarding, equality and diversity, teamwork and continuous improvement, with an enthusiastic approach that motivates learners and supports their achievement.
