Role: Industry Placement Assessor – Early Years

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus

Salary/Benefits: 27 days annual leave plus (Pro‑Rata) Bank holidays, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours / Weeks: 18.5 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time

About The Role: We are currently seeking an Early Years Industry Placement Assessor to join our Health, Social Care and Childcare department at The Bedford College Group.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Industry Placement Strategy & Compliance – Implement the College Work Experience policy, ensuring high‑quality, compliant industry placements within Health, Care and Early Years that meet awarding body and safeguarding requirements.
  • Employer Engagement & Partnerships – Source placements and build strong relationships with employers, industry providers and stakeholders, supporting Employer Advisory Boards and collaborative careers delivery.
  • Placement Coordination & Assessment – Plan, organise and conduct placement observations and assessments, liaising with employers, awarding bodies and internal teams, and providing detailed written evidence in line with standards.
  • Student Support & Progress Monitoring – Guide and support students in placements and class, monitor attendance and progress, provide effective feedback, and take action to ensure achievement of required outcomes.
  • Quality Assurance & Professional Practice – Maintain accurate records, contribute to QA and standardisation activities, innovate observation and assessment practice, uphold equality, safeguarding, health & safety, and engage in CPD and team collaboration.

About You:

  • Qualifications & Specialist Expertise: Level 3 qualification in Early Years (or equivalent), TAQA Assessor qualification, GCSE English and maths (A–C), with up‑to‑date sector knowledge and strong professional credibility.
  • Training, Assessment & Tracking Experience: Proven experience delivering training, assessment and education to young people and adults, using both manual and IT‑based systems to record, track and evidence progress.
  • Employer Engagement & Partnership Working: Ability to develop effective employer and community partnerships, promote placement opportunities and contribute positively to industry collaboration.
  • Professional Skills, Organisation & Values: Highly organised and self‑motivated, able to plan and delegate workload, contribute positively to teams, promote equality and diversity, and uphold College values in all activities.
  • Safeguarding, Flexibility & Professional Practice: Committed to safeguarding, health & safety and CPD, able to work flexibly across sites, maintain clear professional boundaries, and represent the College professionally with a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
