Adult Learning Support Assistant & Cognassist Facilitator

About the Role

We are currently seeking an Adult Learning Support Assistant and Cognassist Facilitator to join our Foundation Learning & Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.

Responsibilities

  • Learner Onboarding & Assessment – Facilitate adult student cohorts through the Cognassist assessment at the start of their learning journey, delivering clear presentations and guidance.
  • Ongoing Learner Support – Manage a caseload of matched learners, scheduling monthly one-to-one meetings to review engagement and progress, and recording reflections within the Cognassist platform.
  • Collaboration & Engagement – Work closely with curriculum teams to promote Cognassist usage, encourage learner participation, and support attainment and progression.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting – Maintain accurate records of learner interactions, progress, and support activities, contributing to reviews, evaluations, and compliance with college procedures.
  • Statutory & College Responsibilities – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety standards, participate in training and development, and support college events such as open days and inductions.

About You

  • Qualifications & Education – Holds or is willing to work toward a Level 2 Learner Support Certificate, with Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
  • Experience & Knowledge – Experienced in supporting individuals in educational settings, particularly adult learners and those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, with a good understanding of inclusive learning.
  • Technical & Communication Skills – Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), with strong communication skills across face-to-face, written, and telephone interactions.
  • Professional Attributes – Demonstrates initiative, accuracy in record-keeping, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining a positive, adaptable attitude.
  • Safeguarding & Values – Committed to safeguarding, equality, and promoting a supportive learning environment, with the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and work flexibly across Bedford sites.
