Overview
What is an IPS Employment Specialist?
This is a rewarding and dynamic role where no day is the same and you’ll be making a genuine difference to people’s lives. Using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model you will support and motivate individuals with mental health conditions to access and sustain paid employment, regularly meet with clients to listen, offer support and help them identify their best job match reflecting their skills and aspirations, assist with CV production and interview techniques, and advocate for your clients by educating and engaging with employers regarding the IPS service. You will source job opportunities through regular contact with local employers and promote employment to raise expectations about service users’ ability to work, helping to break down barriers.
Note: This post is based in Harrow, Bentley House. This role is an excellent opportunity to start a long-term career within the mental health sector, develop your skills and access a broad range of opportunities within CNWL.
Responsibilities
- Provide motivation and support to individuals with mental health conditions to access and sustain paid employment.
- Regularly meet with clients to listen, assess, and help identify suitable job matches aligned with their skills and aspirations.
- Support clients with CV production, interview techniques, and managing health at work.
- Advocate for clients by educating and engaging with employers about the IPS service.
- Source job opportunities through ongoing contact with local employers within the community.
- Promote employment and raise expectations around the ability of service users to access paid employment, helping to remove barriers.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree-level education or relevant work experience in health, social care, or employment sectors.
- Strong and persuasive communication skills, excellent time management, and strong organisational abilities.
- Ability to initiate and develop relationships with a variety of individuals and engage employers using multiple methods (telephone or face-to-face in the community).
- Motivation and ability to build relationships with service users; capacity to engage a range of employers.
- Experience with people who have mental health support needs or experience in employment support services is helpful but not essential.
- Experience in persuasive communication, marketing, recruitment, or sales is valued.
