Overview
The vacancy is based in Wakefield, UK. The role is full-time and permanent, with travel across the UK and overnight stays as required. Central Alliance, a member of the RSK Group, seeks an experienced Geo-Environmental Engineer to support the Geo division. The role is largely site-based and outdoors, with the Wakefield Office as the base but can be worked from any UK location depending on field work.
Accountabilities
- Supervision and management of ground investigations
- Travel throughout the UK (80% away from home); remainder based at Wakefield Office (20%)
- Logging of soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:2020
- Managing ground investigation works, including pricing, liaising with suppliers, and health and safety documentation
- Management of on-site safety, paperwork and subcontractors
- Adherence to working instructions from internal and external clients
- Factual reporting, data processing and data management
- Completion of Desk Based Studies
- Assisting senior staff with project-related duties
- Overseeing department equipment – allocation, hire, servicing and repairs
- Attend and pass internal and external training courses (e.g., PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, towing license, CAT, First Aid, manual handling)
- Adherence to SHEQ policies and procedures
- Maintenance of ground investigation engineering equipment
About You
- BSc in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geology / Geography
- Ability to supervise and manage ground investigation contracts
- Experience with Construction Design & Management regulations and Health & Safety documentation
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement
- Experience of people management
- Flexible approach to work and able to adapt to change
- Self-motivated, solutions-focused, organised with good time management
- Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, work in teams and independently
- Professional and polite communication
- Willingness to work flexible hours and varying UK locations
- Adaptable to outdoor environments
- Manual, valid UK driving license
