The Role
Hybrid role (≈80% site based) at Wakefield office, West Yorkshire. Requires commuting daily or willingness to relocate, and occasional overnight stay at client sites.
Accountable to the Senior Engineering team, the role suits someone with an enthusiastic, can‑do attitude who wants to be upskilled to gain autonomy in the geotechnical/engineering field.
It offers exposure to the latest technology and leading academic research.
- Accountabilities
- Collecting, processing and managing monitoring data from geotechnical instrumentation on site (full training provided).
- Assisting with or leading on‑site installation and monitoring projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
- Assisting with project deliverables, performance and SHEQ information (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality).
- Upholding excellent safety and housekeeping standards, representing the company professionally on every site.
- Assisting with the maintenance and organisation of the yard and storage areas, including sorting, picking and delivery of soil and groundwater samples.
- Undertaking monitoring equipment calibration, repair and servicing when necessary.
- Supported by the company, maintain and develop technical knowledge, such as British Standards and industry standards.
- Undertaking internal and external training, as part of a professional development plan.
- Working across the UK to travel to client sites, as and when required.
- Adhere to all RSK company policies and client policies and procedures when on site.
About You
- Degree in Earth Sciences, Geography or Engineering.
- Ability to follow instructions, work part of a multi‑disciplinary team and also work solo, using own initiative.
- Self‑motivated, solutions focused, organised with effective time management.
- Ability to conduct business in a professional and polite manner at all times.
- Willing and able to work in variable environments and has a love of the outdoors.
- Ability to work remotely around the UK, including from home when agreed and approved. Possibility of some overseas travel.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, when required.
- Commitment to safety and improving ways of working.
