Normanton, UK — The Opportunity. We have an opportunity for a HGV Driver to join the Central Alliance team.
The Vacancy Central Alliance, part of the RSK Group, is offering an exciting opportunity for a HGV Driver to join the team in Normanton, UK. The role is full-time (45 hours per week), permanent.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to relevant transport legislation and road safety regulations whilst ensuring vehicles are roadworthy.
- Deliver all goods punctually and maintain effective communication with management and clients.
- Uphold a professional standard, complying with all company policies during deliveries and collections.
- Plan the most efficient and safest route for journeys, reporting any delays to schedules in a timely manner to the line manager.
- Conduct pre-journey checks on company vehicles in line with DVSA requirements and training. Report all defects in a timely manner.
- Ensure that goods are suitably and securely loaded and protected from damage during transport, and that all loads are within the vehicles’ load capacity.
- Keep accurate records of driving hours and mileage to comply with EU and UK regulations.
- Adhere to working instructions as specified internally from the Transport Manager and drilling supervisors.
- Problem solving, following instructions and working as part of a professional, multi-disciplinary team.
- Maintain a good working relationship with clients and employees, acting professionally at all times.
- Attend and pass internal and externally recognised training courses (e.g., Fire Safety, First Aid, PTS, CSCS, CCNSG).
- Adhere to all RSK policies and client site procedures when on site.
About You / Qualifications
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (driver CPC).
- Lorry-loader qualification (desirable).
- Cat C+E driving license (with no more than 6 points).
- Experience driving articulated HGVs, rigid HGVs, and lorry-loader cranes.
- Slinger/signaller qualification (desirable).
- Sound knowledge of geographical areas and route planning.
- Self-motivated, solutions-focused, organised with effective time management and a positive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, work in a multi-disciplinary team and also work solo using own initiative.
- Good professional conduct and adherence to our Core Values.
- Excellent communication skills.
