The Assistant Driller role supports the Driller in delivering safe and high-quality drilling projects to Central Alliance clients throughout the UK. The role involves cable percussive boring, rotary drilling, window sample drilling, and concrete coring.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as an assistant driller mainly for rotary drilling, with occasional window sampling and concrete coring.
  • Weekend working on railway sites may be required.
  • Follow best practices and industry standards; training and guidance provided for all levels.
  • Follow working instructions from engineers, lead drillers and supervisors.
  • Complete essential paperwork: timesheets, equipment inspection sheets, and weekly reports.
  • Communicate with internal parties.

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Attend and pass internal and industry recognised external training courses (e.g. CSCS, PTS, CCNSG, First Aid).
  • Maintain ground investigation plant, equipment and tools.
  • Assist the lead driller with rotary and windowless sampling drilling operations.
  • Familiar with conventional coring systems (PWF, T6-116, T6-H, 412, SWF); entry level candidates may be considered.
