Central Alliance, part of the RSK Group, is looking for an experienced CPT Operator/Site Testing Technician to work in Normanton, UK.
Role Overview
Accountable to the Principal Engineer, this role suits an experienced CPT Operator with a passion for working outdoors and travelling, and a proactive, “can‑do” attitude.
You will take ownership of projects, lead by example, and deliver high‑quality work safely and efficiently.
Location & Commute
Works in Normanton, UK. The successful candidate must either live within a reasonable commuting distance of Don Pedro Avenue Yard or Wakefield Office, or be willing to relocate.
- Accountabilities
- Deliver safe, high‑quality Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) services in accordance with project specifications, client requirements and industry standards.
- Lead site mobilisation, set‑up and demobilisation activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.
- Operate, inspect and carry out routine maintenance of CPT rigs, equipment and tooling.
- Collect, process and review CPT data, produce accurate field reports and ensure data quality throughout project delivery.
- Complete project documentation to a high standard as required, including inspections, SHE documentation and daily progress reports.
- Mentor and support junior team members, promote safe working practices and develop technical capability.
- Uphold excellent safety and housekeeping standards, representing the company professionally on every site.
- Assist with maintenance and organisation of the yard, equipment and vehicles when not working on site.
- Support business‑improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve safety, efficiency and ways of working.
- Travel across the UK—and occasionally abroad—to client sites as required.
- Adhere to all RSK company policies and comply with client policies and procedures when on site.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience operating CPT equipment or similar ground investigation/drilling equipment.
- Flexible approach to work, including adaptability in hours and willingness to travel or work away from home up to 100 % of the working week.
- Good understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality standards within a site‑based environment.
- Proactive, positive attitude, adaptable, and resilient in diverse environmental conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Strong communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
- Computer‑literate with experience in Microsoft Office 365.
- Willingness to attend and pass internal and industry‑recognised external training courses (PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, CSCS, CAT, First Aid, manual handling).
- Full UK Driver’s Licence (Manual).
