If you design sprinklers in Revit and want your models to be the benchmark contractors build from, this role is worth a look. Cento is recruiting a Sprinkler Design Engineer for an independent fire and life safety consultancy in the West Midlands. You'll design fully modelled systems for major projects and see how they're built, not just drawn.
Key Responsibilities
- Design sprinkler systems in Revit, including pipe routing, sizing, fittings, hangers and coordination with other services
- Establish hazard classifications, design densities and water supply requirements for each project
- Produce hydraulic calculations, equipment schedules, specifications and design reports
- Size and specify sprinkler tanks, pump sets and valve installations
- Resolve clashes with architects and M&E designers through model coordination
- Review contractors' Stage 5 sprinkler designs and calculations for compliance
- Survey existing buildings and support verification audits of existing systems
- Visit sites to check installation quality and attend testing when required
- Proven experience designing sprinkler systems in Revit β this is a must for the role
- Working knowledge of BS EN 12845 and the LPC Rules, and/or BS 9251
- Experience with hydraulic calculation software
- An accurate, methodical approach to detailing and compliance
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with wider design teams
- Full UK driving licence
What's on Offer
- Design work on varied, high-profile projects in a fully modelled environment
- Exposure to design review and site inspection, not just drawing
- Clear progression as the business grows, with support from a senior technical lead
- Private health scheme and 24+ days' holiday plus bank holidays
- Hybrid working, with a flexible home-working day each week
The Role: You'll design sprinkler systems inside full Revit models for large new-build and refurbishment projects, taking them from concept to a detailed RIBA Stage 4 design that contractors can price and build from. Because the design lives in the model, you'll route and detail the pipework yourself and coordinate it with the other building services. Alongside your own designs, you'll help check contractors' designs and installations, which gives you a broad view of how projects are delivered.
The Company: An independent fire and life safety consultancy working for tier 1 contractors and major asset owners on high-profile projects, from university campuses to hydroelectric power stations and battery storage sites. A close-knit, growing team that values personality as much as experience, and is building up its in-house expertise rather than leaning on subcontractors.
