The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established and growing provider of intelligent security solutions, is looking to appoint a Purchase Ledger Assistant to join its Finance team in Gillingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced purchase ledger professional to join a supportive and collaborative finance function, where you'll play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting key processes and helping the wider business operate efficiently.

The role offers the opportunity to develop your experience within a growing group environment, gain exposure to group-level finance processes and contribute to continuous improvements across the purchase ledger function.

Key Responsibilities

Working as part of the Finance team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Managing supplier statement reconciliations and resolving any queries.
  • Supporting weekly payment runs and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Liaising with teams across the business to obtain timely invoice approvals.
  • Assisting with month-end activities and reconciliations.
  • Helping to improve and standardise purchase ledger processes across the wider group.
  • Maintaining accurate and organised financial records.
  • Supporting the Finance team with other duties and projects as required.

About You

We're looking for an organised and detail-focused finance professional who is comfortable working with high volumes of data and able to manage competing priorities.

Ideally, You'll Have

  • At least 2 years' experience in a purchase ledger or similar finance role.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems; Sage experience would be advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work.
  • The ability to manage your own workload, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels.
  • Experience working within a multi-site or service-based environment would be desirable.
  • Previous experience supervising or taking ownership of elements of a finance process would be an advantage, although this is not essential.
