Job Description

Job Title: Engineering Manager – Electronics Manufacturing

Location: Portsmouth

Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished Engineering Manager to lead our multidisciplinary engineering function within a dynamic electronics manufacturing environment. This pivotal role will oversee product lifecycle management (PLM), electronic and mechanical design, new product introduction, and programme management. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong leadership skills to deliver innovative, high-quality products to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage engineering functions including electronic design, mechanical design, test, NPI, and project management.
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept, design, verification and compliance through to production and end-of-life.
  • Drive the development and delivery of electronic and system solutions for demanding applications in sectors such as defence, medical, and industrial.
  • Implement and optimise PLM processes to improve project efficiency and delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g. BS EN, UL, FCC).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and quality to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and project schedules across multiple teams and geographies.
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering (Electronic/Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline).
  • Proven track record in engineering leadership within electronics manufacturing.
  • Extensive experience in product lifecycle management, systems integration, and new product introduction.
  • Strong background in electronic design and complex product development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with risk management, quality assurance, and process optimisation.
