Position Overview:
Play a pivotal role in preparing precise system designs and cost estimates, collaborating closely with sales and project teams to deliver competitive and compliant proposals tailored to client requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review client specifications, site surveys and tender documents to produce accurate and competitive design and costing proposals.
- Design fire detection, intruder alarm, CCTV, access control, and integrated security systems.
- Prepare comprehensive bills of materials, labour cost breakdowns and project timelines.
- Engage with manufacturers and suppliers to source the most current and competitive pricing.
- Ensure all system designs adhere to current British Standards, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Provide technical support to the sales team and attend client meetings as required.
- Work alongside project managers to ensure a smooth transition from pre-sales to project delivery.
Candidate Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience as an Estimator or Design Engineer within the fire and/or security industry.
- Strong technical knowledge across fire detection, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems.
- Sound understanding of relevant standards (e.g. BS 5839, BS EN 50131, NSI, BAFE).
- Competent in the use of CAD software and estimation tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- FIA or other relevant technical certifications.
- Experience with integrated and network-based security systems.
