Are you an experienced Fire Systems Engineer looking for your next challenge? We’re looking for a skilled and motivated professional to join a dynamic team working on a wide range of fire detection and alarm systems across commercial and industrial projects.
This position involves the full lifecycle of fire systems work - from installation and commissioning to ongoing maintenance - alongside a specialist security systems team. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-compliant work across various technologies including addressable and non-addressable fire alarms, air sampling systems, beam detection, and wireless solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commissioning and handover of fire alarm systems in accordance with BS5839 and industry best practices
- Working with multiple detection technologies and manufacturers
- Identifying risks to project timelines and resolving them proactively
- Demonstrating systems to clients and supporting handover process
- Supervising third-party contractors when required (SSSTS essential)
- Completing electronic documentation in line with compliance standards (FIA & BAFE)
- Maintaining a high standard of health and safety on all sites
- Supporting integration with other building systems and offering technical guidance across departments
- Assisting in mentoring and development of junior engineers
About You:
- Minimum 8 years' experience in the fire alarm industry
- Strong technical knowledge with the ability to program cause & effect logic using a laptop
- FIA qualified (Advanced & Commissioning units)
- In-depth understanding of BS5839 standards (all parts)
- Comfortable working independently and client-facing
- ECS/CSCS, IPAF, and asbestos awareness certified
- SSSTS qualification essential
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally, including occasional overnight stays
- Flexible, self-motivated, and a team player with a positive, proactive attitude
