We are seeking a commercially driven Account Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of existing customer accounts across private sector businesses and housing associations. The role focuses on developing long-term customer relationships and expanding the value of existing accounts by identifying opportunities across our full portfolio of IT infrastructure, managed services and technology solutions.

The successful candidate will inherit a portfolio of existing accounts which vary in maturity, including active customers with regular spend, customers who have purchased previously but are not currently engaged, and dormant accounts with future potential. This role focuses on strengthening relationships, re-engaging customers, and identifying opportunities to expand the services and solutions delivered into each account.

Account Managers are expected to take a structured approach to developing their customer portfolio, identifying opportunities to increase both account value and service adoption over time. Key expectations include:

  • Developing account growth plans for key customers
  • Identifying opportunities to expand existing relationships into additional services and solutions
  • Increasing customer adoption of the wider technology portfolio
  • Re-engaging dormant or underdeveloped accounts and identifying new opportunities
  • Building multi-level relationships within customer organisations

The purpose of the role is not simply to maintain existing spend, but to grow account value by expanding the range of services and solutions delivered to each customer.

Key Responsibilities

Account Development

  • Manage a portfolio of existing customer accounts across private sector and housing sectors
  • Develop structured account plans to grow revenue within each organisation
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and solutions within existing customers
  • Re-engage dormant accounts and rebuild customer relationships
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including IT leaders, operational leadership and procurement teams
  • Conduct regular customer engagement meetings to understand technology plans and business priorities
  • Position new solutions that support customer infrastructure, resilience and digital transformation goals
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional solutions across the full company portfolio
  • Expand accounts beyond initial purchases into areas such as managed services, cloud, infrastructure upgrades and resilience services
  • Work to diversify customer spend across multiple technology solutions

Commercial Management

  • Produce proposals, quotations and commercial documentation
  • Manage renewals, contract discussions and procurement processes
  • Ensure opportunities align with margin and commercial objectives
  • Maintain accurate opportunity tracking and forecasting within CRM
  • Work closely with internal technical teams and vendor partners to develop appropriate customer solutions
  • Engage with marketing campaigns and vendor initiatives that support account growth
  • Share customer insight and opportunities across the wider sales team

Experience:

  • Proven experience in a B2B account management or sales role
  • Demonstrable experience growing revenue within existing customer accounts
  • Experience managing customer relationships and identifying expansion opportunities
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and opportunities simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and proposal development capability
  • Ability to articulate technology solutions in clear commercial terms
  • Professional engagement with Directors, IT Leaders and Senior Stakeholders

Industry & Technical Awareness

  • Understanding of IT infrastructure, managed services, or technology solution sales
  • Familiarity with environments including: Managed Services & Infrastructure, Business Continuity (BaaS, DRaaS, M365 Backup)
  • Ability to understand customer environments and position appropriate solutions

Organisation & Systems

  • Strong account planning and pipeline management discipline
  • Accurate CRM usage and opportunity tracking
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Competent in Microsoft 365 and modern sales tools
