Take ownership of financial reporting, controls and team performance within an established UK technology group.

As Financial Controller, you will lead a nine-person team, support informed decision-making and help maintain the financial discipline required for continued growth.

Role Summary

You will oversee core accounting activities across the Group, including statutory and management accounts, balance sheet control, budgeting, forecasting, VAT and audit support.

Working closely with the Finance Director, you will improve processes, develop the finance team and provide clear financial insight to stakeholders across the business.

  • Finance Leadership
  • Lead, support and develop a team of nine finance professionals.
  • Set clear priorities, allocate workloads and maintain high standards across the function.
  • Coach team members and support their professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with teams and business units across the Centerprise Group.
  • Financial Reporting and Control
  • Oversee the production of monthly, half-year and year-end management accounts.
  • Prepare and support the delivery of statutory accounts.
  • Maintain accurate balance sheet accounts, reconciliations and month-end journals.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, expenses and statistical returns.
  • Review financial information and resolve reporting or control issues.
  • Planning and Analysis
  • Coordinate annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Produce clear variance analysis and explain performance against plan.
  • Provide accurate financial information to support senior management decisions.
  • Identify risks, trends and areas requiring corrective action.
  • Tax, Audit and Compliance
  • Prepare and review VAT returns.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisers.
  • Support import and export queries, procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate financial controls and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to compliance with company information security and health and safety policies.
  • Process Improvement
  • Review finance processes, workflows and work instructions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency and consistency.
  • Lead or contribute to finance and wider business projects as required.

  • Experience producing management accounts and supporting statutory reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of balance sheet control, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Experience handling VAT returns and working with auditors and tax advisers.
  • Knowledge of import and export procedures and requirements.
  • Technical capability
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Confidence using SAP.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial information.
  • A sound understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and reporting processes.
