The journey begins with the appointment of a Senior Conservation Ranger, joining us in summer 2026 to play a vital role in supporting the construction phase of this exciting development. The role will be based in Hawick.

About the role

As part of our passionate Grounds Services team, you'll help shape and protect the natural environment that defines the Center Parcs experience. Our teams are dedicated to delivering high-quality work while safeguarding wildlife, enhancing biodiversity and ensuring full compliance with environmental legislation and health and safety standards. This role offers a rare opportunity to influence both the creation and long-term stewardship of an entirely new village, with a strong focus on habitat management, conservation and the implementation of the Forest Management Plan. The project includes the afforestation of the site, planting hundreds of thousands of trees to create a thriving woodland to surround the village.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide supporting specialist on-site expertise throughout the construction phase, particularly in relation to Scottish conservation legislation.
  • Ensure all forestry, biodiversity and ecological commitments are delivered to Center Parcs' high standards.
  • Support environmental compliance and wildlife protection measures during site development.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of "as-built" specifications across your areas of responsibility.
  • Support the Grounds Manager in the effective day-to-day management and supervision of the Conservation team once the village opens.
  • Ensure all activities align with company policies and legislative requirements.
  • Promote efficient, safe and disciplined working practices.
  • Help deliver an exceptional guest experience by maintaining the highest environmental standards.

What's in it for you

  • Free day passes and access to leisure facilities (including the spa).
  • Discounts on breaks and in our shops and restaurants.
  • Bonus scheme and recognition rewards.
  • A supportive, friendly team.
  • Career development and in-role training.

Your working hours

You will be contracted to work a guaranteed minimum of 150 hours over a 4‑week period. You may be asked to work additional hours in line with operational requirements. Once the village is open, this role includes working a mix of shift patterns, on a rota basis, including some early mornings, weekends and bank holidays. You will be required to participate in the department's call-out rota as a senior representative of the department as required.

About you

  • NVQ Level 2 in Countryside and Environment or a similar field or equivalent experience.
  • A wide knowledge of wildlife with interest in nature interpretation.
  • Proficient in operating horticultural, agricultural or forestry machinery.
  • Full Driving Licence, held for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Previous supervisory experience would be desirable.
