Ground Services Assistant Manager
Centre Parcs UK & Ireland invites applications for the Ground Services Assistant Manager role.
About the role
Imagine stepping away from the desk and having 400 acres of beautiful forest as your office. The Grounds Services team is responsible for managing and maintaining the forest landscape at each of our villages, including wildlife and biodiversity surveys. Our teams are passionate about the natural environment that our guests love to see.
Compensation
Circa £35,000 per annum
Key responsibilities
- Support the Ground Services Manager in ensuring smooth running and control of the department, overseeing operating standards, Company Landscape Strategy, Forest Management plans, and the Planned Maintenance Programme.
- Assist with day‑to‑day running of the Grounds Department, managing and organising team resources to deliver all departmental responsibilities to required standards while adhering to Company, Legal and Health & Safety Regulations.
- Deputise for the Ground Services Manager during absences, including meeting attendance, briefings, budget management and day‑to‑day operations of the Grounds team.
- Develop a culture that promotes wellbeing, motivation and morale, implement effective performance management strategies and ensure team contribution to departmental goals.
- Support planning and implementation of the external and internal landscape management plan, covering Biodiversity & Ecology, Forest Management, Grass & Scrub Management, Lakes & Waterways Management, Roads & Footpaths, Internal Landscaping, Fencing & Timber Structures, Play Areas, Waste Management, Pest Control, Planon & Reactive Works and General Landscaping.
Hours of work
Contracted to work 160 hours per 4‑week period on a flexible basis. Days and hours may vary each week, but you will always receive at least your contracted hours each period. Shifts run between 6am and 7pm, including one weekend in every five. The village operates 365 days a year, so working hours include public/bank holidays, Christmas and New Year on a rota basis.
About You – Essential requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Horticulture / Estate Management / Conservation, or a qualified landscape discipline (e.g., Forest Management, Countryside Management), or equivalent experience.
- Ability to support and develop a team.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Supervisory experience.
- Motivational approach towards colleagues and work.
- Full driving licence held for a minimum of 6 months.
Desirable requirements
- Experience in a grounds or landscape role.
- IOSH – Managing Safely certification.
- Previous experience of managing budgets or financial awareness.
