Center for Life Management (CLM) provides the area's most comprehensive array of outpatient mental healthcare. We offer innovative and evidence-based services that enhance the health and well-being of individuals and families who experience mental illness, serious emotional difficulties and/or co-occurring disorders. Our Medical Team is comprised of compassionate Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Treaters, and Administrative Assistants who work as interdisciplinary team members serving our Adult and Children’s Departments. The Psychiatrist will provide medical services to both adults and children. The Psychiatrist will also complete initial evaluations, follow up assessments, and offer suggestions to treat and prevent mental, emotional and behavioral health disorders.

Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow-up assessments by evaluating patients via interview, observation of behaviors, gathering feedback from parent/guardian/natural support, engaging in outcome measures, reviewing medical history/related documents, selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests, and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests.
  • Demonstrate understanding of relevant developmental, cultural, and family system issues consistent with DSM-V-TR criteria when conducting assessments to provide accurate and concise clinical formulations, diagnoses, and treatment recommendations including the prescription of psychopharmacological agents.
  • Engage patient and appropriate family members and/or guardians in medication management services, including providing education as needed to support treatment planning and adherence.
  • Review and authorize treatment/individual service plans with patient and guardian driven goals and objectives which reflect medical necessity, patient’s strengths, symptoms, and functional impairments.
  • Work in conjunction with the Medical Director to ensure service delivery is efficient and effective by developing methods to meet desired patient outcomes.
  • When necessary, provide cross-coverage to other prescribing medical staff.
  • Maintain interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress, collaborating with other treatment team members, natural supports, guardians, and external providers to ensure a wrap-around care is provided to the patient.
  • Serve on appropriate committees, both internally and externally, as determined by supervisor.
  • Function professionally and in a manner that protects the integrity, confidentiality, and rights of all patients.
  • Promote a positive work environment and culture that fosters cooperation, teamwork, professional growth and development to benefit CLM staff, patients, families, and community partners.
  • Execute all required services and documentation in accordance with agency policies and CLM Provider Agreement, federal standards, and state statutes.
  • Provide timely documentation on each service delivered.
  • Maintain professional memberships, licenses, accreditation, certifications, etc.
  • Advance professional skills, competencies, and expertise through personal study, in service trainings, workshops and conferences.
  • Adhere to Center’s Code of Ethics.
  • Represent CLM in a professional and appropriate manner in all settings.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Medical Director.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Medical degree (MD or DO), required.
  • Evidence of successful completion of an accredited residency or fellowship program in general or child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • ABPN- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Valid DEA certificate with prescriptive authority, required.
  • Experience treating patients with diverse clinical profiles and clinical co-morbidities.
  • Work history in and knowledge of mental health outpatient services.
  • Ability to demonstrate competent psychotropic medication management skills.
  • Willingness to participate in initial and ongoing training in TMS.
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and clear, well thought out clinical decisions and actions in routine, urgent, and emergent situations.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically with all Microsoft office applications.
  • Ability to document effectively and efficiently in course of work.
  • Ability to navigate an electronic health record.
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a team while also able to be self-directed and motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to acquire and effectively practice new skills as needed according to evolving agency needs/services.
  • Effective communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
