About the Role
As a court reporter for the Legal Technology team, you will report on the intersection of law and technology with a focus on developments in the UK and Europe. Your coverage will include technology used within the legal profession, regulation of emerging tech and its impact on the legal industry. You will write on subjects such as artificial intelligence, e‑discovery, data privacy, cybersecurity, automation, blockchain, and the Internet of Things.

- Latest generative AI developments, models, regulations, and cybersecurity and data privacy issues and their impact on the legal industry.
- Technology used by lawyers and its effect on the profession (law firms, corporate legal departments, service providers).
- Application of data analytics, technology and innovation in the business of law.
- Companies behind the technology, including investments, M&A and major career moves.
- Legal technology’s fast‑growing startup scene.
- e‑discovery technology market, opportunities, challenges and regulations.
- Evolving UK and EU regulations on cybersecurity, data privacy and technology, and implications for legal professionals.
- Major litigation and case law impacting the technology space.
- Live stories from industry conferences, written and social media coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Publish at least one piece of content per day (article, enterprise, or multimedia).
- Build and maintain a reliable network of sources from the legal ecosystem.
- Follow the legal technology beat and secure scoops on major business, product, innovation, and industry news.
- Generate ideas for daily and enterprise coverage.
- Write clean copy under tight daily deadlines.
- Assist in creating and analyzing datasets for editorial projects spearheaded by the legal technology team.
- Collaborate with other editorial teams across Centellic.
- Travel to and report on legal technology conferences and events.
- Maintain an active LinkedIn account to build the reporter brand.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree in journalism or communications, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 2 years of professional reporting experience preferred, though recent graduates are welcome.
- Background reporting on technology or the legal market is a plus, but not required.
- Team‑working ability, openness to brainstorming, and sharing ideas.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills to juggle multiple tasks under strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in social media and content management systems.
- Multimedia skills (podcasting, audio and video editing) considered a bonus.
