This role is a multi‑drop delivery driver and the person will be responsible for delivering company products to customers in a safe and timely manner. The driver represents the company and is often the first point of contact for customers, so a high standard of customer care must be maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits, road signs and giving due regard to other road users.
- Conduct a daily vehicle check to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy, including lights, brakes, coolant, etc.
- Report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.
- Maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle and its cleanliness.
- Ensure sufficient quantities of fuel are taken for the day's work.
- Secure the vehicle and its contents at all times.
- Check drop sheets and ensure all orders are loaded on the vehicle.
- Collect goods returned for credit, mail, delivery bins and return them to the branch as instructed.
- Deal with damages or breakages promptly and correctly, following procedures for hazardous chemicals.
- Maintain a smart appearance.
- Help maintain good customer relations.
- Perform other duties including warehouse tasks as defined by management.
- Meet all Health & Safety requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- A full driving licence relevant to the vehicle being driven. Points on a licence may be considered but does not automatically disqualify.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer care.
- Intermediate numeracy and literacy.
Desirable:
- Previous experience of multi‑drop delivery driving.
- Route planning experience.
