You will work directly with managers, coaching them through people decisions, performance issues and complex employee relations matters, while supporting organisational change and ensuring our UK people practices remain compliant and commercially sound.

You will combine strong HR judgement with operational delivery, including ownership of Bamboo HR and support for UK payroll.

While you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, this is not a standalone HR role.

You will be an active member of the wider HR team, working collaboratively, sharing information and contributing to a consistent approach across Leo Cancer Care.

You will know when to take ownership, when to seek input and how to balance the needs of our people with those of the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and maintain Bamboo HR for the UK, employee records, workflows, absence tracking, onboarding/offboarding, and reporting
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle from offer letter to exit interview, ensuring a consistently positive experience
  • Maintain up-to-date employment contracts, policies, and HR documentation in line with UK employment law
  • Track and manage absence, holiday, and leave entitlements (including pro-rata for part-time staff)
  • Act as a trusted, approachable first point of contact for all employee queries and concerns
  • Support and coach line managers through performance conversations, disciplinaries, grievances, and absence management
  • Be the conscience of the business. Flag people risks early and propose pragmatic, fair solutions
  • Support wellbeing programmes and ensure employees feel seen, heard, and valued
  • Manage the UK Benefits
  • Provide HR support for the UK payroll process, ensuring employee changes, new starters, leavers, benefits, absence and other payroll inputs are accurate and submitted on time; work closely with the payroll team to resolve queries and discrepancies.
  • Manage employee relations matters end-to-end, including performance, disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence cases, providing managers with clear, commercially sound advice and ensuring appropriate documentation and process.
  • Support organisational change, including restructures, role changes, consultation processes and other employee-impacting business changes.
  • Build manager capability through direct coaching and practical guidance with support of CHRO, enabling managers to handle people matters confidently, consistently and appropriately.
  • Monitor changes in UK employment legislation and proactively recommend updates to policies, contracts and working practices to maintain compliance and reduce people-related risk.
  • Partner with managers and HR team members on workforce needs, recruitment, onboarding and internal people decisions, working with Talent Acquisition and other partners where appropriate.
  • Work closely with HR colleagues and business leaders globally to ensure UK requirements are understood while supporting consistent company-wide people practices and initiatives.

Relevant Knowledge and Skill requirements

  • CIPD Level 5 or above preferred; significant relevant HR experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualification.

  • Working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing, engineering, or similarly operational workforce
  • Confident and competent user of Bamboo HR or a comparable HRIS
  • Demonstrable ability to balance commercial pragmatism with genuine care for people
