Centacare NENW is looking for a Family Safety Worker to join our Men's Behaviour Change Program. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing proactive, trauma-informed support to victim survivors while contributing to coordinated responses to domestic and family violence across the New England North West.

About Centacare NENW

Since 2001, Centacare NENW, the Social Services Agency of the Catholic Diocese of Armidale, has been supporting individuals, families and communities across the New England North West.

As a Catholic agency, we welcome everyone regardless of religion, circumstance, ethnicity, economic situation, age, gender or ability.

Our work is guided by four core values:

Dignity | Community | Cooperation | Support

About the role

The primary purpose of the Family Safety Worker role is to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of victim survivors and children connected to perpetrators of violence participating in the Men's Behaviour Change Program.

Working independently from the men's intervention, you will provide proactive outreach, risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy and connection to specialist services.

You will use the Risk, Safety and Support Framework (RSSF) to support structured professional judgement, monitor changes in risk and contribute to coordinated responses within the domestic and family violence service system.

This is a varied role that will involve working directly with victim survivors, collaborating with specialist services and attending interagency meetings across the New England North West region.

Skills And Experiences

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing proactive outreach and engagement with victim survivors connected to Men's Behaviour Change Program participants
  • Conducting initial and ongoing risk assessments, including the use of the Domestic Violence Safety Assessment Tool (DVSAT) where required
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing individualised safety plans with victim survivors
  • Monitoring changes in risk and responding to escalating or emerging safety concerns
  • Providing trauma-informed and culturally safe support, advocacy and information
  • Facilitating warm referrals to specialist domestic and family violence, legal, housing, health, counselling and child-focused services
  • Supporting the safety and wellbeing of children through identification of risk, referral and service coordination
  • Working collaboratively with Men's Behaviour Change Program Facilitators while maintaining clear role separation and independence from the men's intervention
  • Participating in information sharing and coordinated responses in accordance with relevant legislation and consent requirements
  • Contributing to Safety Action Meetings and integrated service responses where serious threat is identified
  • Working inclusively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • Supporting inclusive practice and reasonable adjustments for people with disability, cognitive impairment and neurodiversity
  • Maintaining accurate, timely and confidential client records and completing required documentation
  • Participating in supervision, reflective practice and professional development
  • Representing Centacare NENW professionally at interagency meetings, forums and community events
  • Contributing to program monitoring, evaluation, quality improvement and continuous improvement activities

This position involves travel across the New England North West region.
