Job Details

  • This role is in support of Cencora's wholesale distribution services in Europe operating through our Alliance Healthcare business.
  • Department: Warehouse Operations
  • Locations: Hinckley & Birmingham
  • Hours: 39 per week. Full Time: 5 days out of 7
  • Contract: Full time permanent
  • Night shift: 8 hours between 22:00 – 08:00
  • For several weeks inductions and training will take place across 2 sites – Hinckley and Gravelly Park Birmingham. Occasional visits to other sites. Own transport is therefore essential.

Job Purpose

The Night Team Member (Warehouse Operative) for the Central Logistics Centre (CLC) is a multi-skilled role which will play a crucial part in supporting the nightly operations of the warehouse. The Central Logistics Centre provides a 24-hour operation of medical and healthcare products to our customer base at the highest levels of service, always working in line with Good Distribution and Standard Operating Procedures.

Overview

You will be responsible for processing the correct receipt and storage of products in the correct conditions according to the product description, picking, packing of goods and preparing them for transport according to Standard Operating Procedures. Working with automated systems, effective and efficient control of both the Goods Inwards, and Outbound operations according to corporate guidelines.

Key Accountabilities

  • Decanting and sorting of third party work
  • Replenishing stock
  • Providing core shift cover of the Knapp and Manhattan warehouse management system, meticulously, working precisely and carefully, with attention to detail.
  • Showing a real interest in customers and how actions and handling of stock can impact them.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Maintaining high levels of Inventory by picking accurately.
  • Identifying operational issues and collaborating with the team to develop solutions that enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Promoting a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Developing self and others Identifies and acts upon own development needs.
  • Participating in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in operational processes and compliance.
  • Maintaining compliance to standard operating procedures
  • Assisting in training new team members, to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas required to accomplish a task or solve a problem.
  • Has a positive attitude to change and spots opportunity to improve own performance.

Order fulfilment

  • Efficiently perform order fulfilment duties to include: Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, by hand or with a forklift truck.
  • Assist in the accurate and timely picking, packing and shipping of orders using automated systems and forklift trucks.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure accurate stock levels using warehouse management software.
  • Checking for damaged or missing items and then sorting stock for storage in correct storage space.
  • Ensuring that stock is rotated in accordance with expiry date (FEFO, First Expired First Out)
  • Keeping a careful record of the stock on the warehouse management system, so that it can be located quickly.
  • Picking orders via automation systems or/and hand-held scanner from designated locations around the warehouse, working at height, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed in a timely manner to meet dispatch times.
  • Palletize goods for safe transportation.
  • Achieve the agreed productivity targets and KPIs as instructed by people leaders.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

Essential Requirements:

  • Flexible attitude to work.

  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures within the warehouse environment.

  • Ability to work with multiple platforms utilising desktop computers, PCs, handheld devices and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts, to meet operational needs.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Any prior knowledge of the following would be highly advantageous:

  • Previous experience of working in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Previous experience working on a night shift.
  • Good time management with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to work collaboratively and effectively across multiple functional departments.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage time, tasks, and resources effectively, ensuring deadlines and targets are met.
  • High visual accuracy.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Basic written, numeracy and literacy communication skills.
