About the Role:
As a Data Center Technician, you will work within the IT Infrastructure domain and contribute to planning, creating and implementing an IT vision and strategy aligned with the company's business plan. You will be responsible for the execution and tracking of all activities within the current and future processing environment as well as project and migration planning, critical systems engineering, and facilities management. You will manage the relationships with facilities management and third-party support vendors while managing operating costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in Data Center to bring servers and switches online
- Maintain hardware onsite including servers, storage, switches and routers
- Understanding on technical principles behind large UPS and HVAC units, and generators
- Perform special customer requests in accordance with their respective SLAs
- Demonstrate troubleshooting skills through resolution
- Reads and analyzes technical references and sources to obtain knowledge of assigned Engineering Operations topics
- Operational and technical problems with standard solutions
- Maintain inventory of all hardware change management documentation
- Rack preparation
- Server preparation
- Server installs
- Help with data center capacity and growth planning rack and server layout
- Provide on-site support in the Data Center during incidents, RMA, project and maintenance activities
- Provide tier II support for data and network systems infrastructure
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 3 or more years working within operations and/or a data center
- Ability to pass required government security clearance
- Ability to accurately maintain documentation, spreadsheets, technical schematics and diagrams
- Experience in computer cabling, both fiber and copper
- Experience in repair/replacement of computer components and hardware
- Must exhibit good written and verbal communication skills in English
- A strong and enthusiastic individual is necessary for this role
- A logical thinker, who can provide a high level of operational excellence and efficiency to any organization
