This is an exciting opportunity to join the Emergency Duty Team (EDT). EDT is a generic team, which includes adult social care, childcare and assessments under the Mental Health Act. An Approved Mental Health Professional would be advantageous in relation to the Emergency Duty Team's statutory work under the Mental Health. The Emergency Duty Team is a great opportunity for Social Workers to practice generically, utilising all skills and knowledge gained in your Social Work training. Help, support and training will be provided if your experience lies in either adult or child social care to learn other areas of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergencies that cannot wait until the next working day, including Mental Health Act Assessments, child in need/child protection and adult safeguarding/supporting vulnerable people to remain at home via organising additional support.
  • Triaging, risk assessing and prioritising urgent cases; maintain clear and effective communication in all forms.
  • Work within a team that includes social workers, Assistant Practitioners, Call Handlers, Managers and Service Managers; attend regular supervisions and monthly team meetings.
  • Work as part of a generic team and have opportunities to attend regular training in both Adult and Children's Services to keep skills up to date.
  • Maintain ongoing mandatory training if you are seeking to become or are an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
  • Collaborate with out-of-hours services and other agencies in both voluntary and statutory sectors.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience and have obtained your first year ASYE/NIPE as a newly qualified Social Worker.
  • AMHP would be advantageous for statutory work under the Mental Health Act.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously during overnight shifts when required.
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 rolling shift pattern and deliver high-quality social work in emergencies.
