Plant Supervisor, Dry Silo Mortar Plant - Swindon, Wiltshire

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Plant Supervisor to join our team at our bespoke Dry Silo Mortar plant in Swindon.

Working closely with the Plant Manager, you will support the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the plant, ensuring accurate production of Dry Silo Mortar products, effective stock management and high standards of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.

This is a hands-on role that will suit someone who enjoys working in a busy operational environment, takes pride in maintaining high standards and is keen to develop their skills across plant operations and mobile plant.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Plant Manager to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
  • Taking responsibility for your own Health and Safety and the safety of visitors and contractors while on site.
  • Promoting and complying with all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring the accurate production of Dry Silo Mortar (DSM) products.
  • Ensuring raw materials are delivered to site in a timely manner to support production requirements.
  • Completing weekly and monthly stock checks and maintaining accurate records.
  • Controlling and monitoring drivers, visitors and contractors arriving on site, ensuring site rules are followed and a professional image is maintained at all times.
  • Identifying and reporting plant defects and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Working with management and contractors to organise and coordinate plant maintenance activities.
  • Carrying out general housekeeping and supporting ongoing site improvements.
  • Maintaining accurate environmental records and complying with relevant ISO 14001 policies and procedures.
  • Operating mobile plant to load raw materials, including telehandler and front-end loading shovel. Training will be provided where required.
  • Using systems including SAP and Checkproof to complete operational, inspection and record-keeping requirements.
  • Supporting the Plant Manager in maintaining high standards of plant performance, quality and operational efficiency.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is self-motivated, responsible and practical, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

You'll need to be comfortable working independently while also working closely with the Plant Manager, colleagues, customers, suppliers, drivers and contractors.

  • A strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with customers, suppliers, drivers and contractors.
  • A flexible and proactive approach, with the initiative to respond to changing production requirements.
  • Good level of physical fitness and the ability to work in a hands-on plant environment.
  • Basic IT skills and the ability to use systems for record keeping and operational checks.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to work varying hours, including early or late shifts, depending on plant production requirements.
  • Previous experience in concrete, cement, mortar or related production environments.
  • Experience working with or around batching systems.
  • Previous mobile plant experience, particularly with a telehandler or front-end loading shovel.
  • Experience using SAP or digital inspection/compliance systems such as Checkproof.
  • Previous experience working in a plant, production or supervisory environment.

Training will be provided for mobile plant operation where required, making this a great opportunity for someone with the right attitude and transferable operational experience who is looking to develop their skills.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist DSM operation in a hands-on supervisory position, working closely with the Plant Manager and developing your experience across production, plant operations, Health & Safety, maintenance and mobile plant.
