About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Property Restoration Technician to join our Fire & Flood team based in Epping. This is a hands-on role focused on restoring properties affected by fire, flood, and other damage. You will carry out controlled strip-out works, install and monitor drying equipment, and undertake technical cleaning and decontamination processes to return properties to a safe and recoverable condition ahead of reinstatement. The role requires strong practical skills, a thorough approach to safety, and the ability to follow technical drying and decontamination plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out controlled strip-out of damaged materials including flooring, plasterboard, insulation, fixtures, and fittings.
- Prepare buildings following fire or flood damage for restoration and reinstatement works.
- Install drying equipment including dehumidifiers, air movers, heaters, and environmental control equipment.
- Monitor drying progress and record moisture readings using approved equipment.
- Adjust drying equipment under instruction to achieve effective drying conditions.
- Carry out technical cleaning and decontamination works following fire, smoke, or water damage.
- Use specialist cleaning products and equipment to remove soot, smoke residues, or contamination.
- Protect unaffected areas of properties during restoration works.
- Maintain accurate site records including moisture readings and equipment log.
- Carry out works in accordance with health and safety regulations, including relevant RAMS documentation.
- Attend training sessions, toolbox talks, and team meetings as required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working in property restoration, damage management, or construction environments.
- Understanding of water damage drying principles and restoration processes.
- Ability to carry out controlled strip-out works safely and efficiently.
- Ability to operate restoration and drying equipment.
- Good attention to detail when recording readings and monitoring drying progress.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Can-do attitude with an adaptable approach to work in a varied and sometimes challenging environment.
Desirable:
- BDMA Technician qualification or working towards.
- Experience working within insurance restoration or damage management sectors.
- Willingness to expand skill set and identify learning needs.
