The Fire Consultant is a key delivery role within CHPK Fire Engineering. You will be responsible for undertaking Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), Fire Safety Audits, and supporting wider fire safety consultancy services across a range of building types. The role focuses on delivering technical work competently, conducting site-based assessments, writing reports, and supporting senior team members.
You will work under the guidance of Senior, Principal, and Associate-level consultants, developing technical capability, regulatory understanding, and professional competence while contributing to high-quality project delivery.
What you will do
- Carry out Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Audits, and fire safety inspections across a variety of premises in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.
- Collect site information, assess fire hazards and risks, and evaluate fire safety measures and management arrangements.
- Prepare clear and accurate fire risk assessment reports and action plans using approved templates and methodologies.
- Deliver assigned work packages to agreed programmes and quality standards.
- Escalate complex, high-risk, or unusual fire safety issues to senior colleagues as required.
- Liaise professionally with clients, responsible persons, building managers, and site representatives during inspections and assessments.
- Communicate fire safety findings clearly and proportionately, under the direction of senior staff.
- Attend site meetings and inspections as required to support project delivery.
- Apply developing knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, guidance, and standards, including Approved Document B and PAS 79.
- Follow established fire risk assessment methodologies and internal quality procedures.
- Participate in internal reviews, learning sessions, and technical discussions.
- Use approved digital FRA platforms and data collection tools.
Who you are
We are seeking an experienced Fire Risk Assessment Consultant. Your role will support the Associate/Associate Director and Director whilst working closely with the wider team. Maintaining and developing client relationships is key to this role.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Façade Engineering, Fire Engineering, Building Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline. You will bring:
- Experience in carrying out Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Audits, and fire safety inspections and an understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.
- The ability to write reports and action plans.
- Ability to communicate well with colleagues, consultants and clients.
- A keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work as a team or individually.
