Job Description

Overall Purpose of the Role:

The purpose is to lead UK pharmacovigilance activities, manage third party pharmacovigilance provider, and collaborate globally, ensuring drug safety and compliance with pharmacovigilance regulations. Accountabilities include regulatory adherence, timely reporting, and pharmacovigilance leadership for the UK business, reflecting the role’s strategic importance. The role may also involve scope around support for Ireland.

Expenditure Responsibilities:

Financial oversight of PV activities, including third party PV provider contracts. Authority covers decision-making on PV processes, ensuring alignment with company and regulatory standards.

Performance Measurement:

Annual objectives will be set in conjunction with line manager. Performance will be measured during one-to-one meetings and annually using a Performance Review document.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing 3rd party PV provider, ensuring their PV services meet UK standards
  • Ensuring compliance with UK/EU regulations, including PSMF maintenance and report submissions as UK PV RP.
  • Collaborating with global safety as global safety database holders.
  • Potentially building and managing a UK PV team, including business case creation, recruitment and training.
  • Leading on and supporting audits and inspections
  • Providing expertise and managing projects, aligning with leadership roles in PV.
  • Provide Ireland with PV expertise

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years PV experience with 2 years leadership
  • Demonstrate good business acumen
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player
  • Good verbal, numerical and negotiating skills
