We consistently provide fellow scientists around the globe with best-in-class products and services to fuel their quests for discovery. We believe that all businesses must be responsible and work in partnership with local communities, while seeking to minimize their environmental impact. That's why we joined 1% for the Planet as its first life science member, and have committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2029.

We are seeking a highly motivated Digital Experience Designer with expertise in enterprise content management system (CMS) design to transform the online experience for global researchers on cellsignal.com, learn.cellsignal.com, and blog.cellsignal.com. This role will also contribute to the design and optimization of email templates. You will drive user engagement through user research, journey mapping, and the creation of intuitive, user-centric designs – from initial prototypes to final wireframes and high-fidelity deliverables – with a strong emphasis on composable design that can effectively translate into a CMS.

With a focus on user centricity and to increase user engagement, this role will create content models within our CMS to organize information, improve navigation, and create distinct user flows. You will also be responsible for developing components, themes, and templates to align with CST-brand guidelines that optimize the user experience within our CMS-managed sites, including forms, landing pages, product pages, site navigation, internal search, and blog pages. Furthermore, you will be involved in designing and implementing A/B tests to optimize the user experience across all our digital touchpoints. Collaboration with marketing, sales, and IT product teams will be key to ensuring the successful execution of impactful digital solutions.

User Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough user research, including interviews and discovery work, to deeply understand the needs, pain points, and behaviours of scientists interacting with our digital platforms. Analyze web analytics, user replay, and other relevant data to identify usability challenges, improvement areas, and optimization opportunities. Enhance and evolve user personas, developing detailed user flows and scenarios based on the specific goals of each persona. Partner with market research to plan and execute usability testing of prototypes and existing interfaces to evaluate design effectiveness. Capture, synthesize, and translate user feedback and research insights into actionable design decisions and future iterations.

Design & Prototyping: Design intuitive and aesthetically pleasing user interfaces that simplify complex scientific information and workflows, ensuring user-friendliness. Rapidly create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts and facilitate iterative testing. Enhance existing user flows and the overall information architecture of the website based on user research and best practices. Utilize and evolve our existing design system with a focus on composable design, proposing new components and templates to ensure consistency and scalability within our enterprise CMS. Provide fully annotated designs and templates for CMS development, partnering with IT to ensure alignment on design, interaction patterns, and expected behaviour. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, including marketing communications, market research, sales, product development, and external agencies, to align design solutions with business objectives. Clearly communicate design rationale and research findings to diverse audiences. Maintain a consistent user experience across all digital touch points by contributing to and adhering to brand guidelines and design templates.

Strategic & Regulatory Considerations: Translate UX research insights into actionable design outcomes that drive measurable improvements. Guide the planning, scaling, documentation, and execution of Human Factors and UI/UX design activities in alignment with regulatory and quality teams. Own and deliver interaction and visual designs across multiple platforms (web, potentially mobile or other interfaces), from low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes, with an understanding of CMS implications. Integrate user feedback, research, and product metrics into all design decisions to create impactful and intuitive experiences. Collaborate with the regulatory team to develop design strategies for new product submissions in accordance with relevant guidelines. Contribute to the overall UX vision and strategy, building strong relationships to gain buy-in and operationalize the strategy across teams. Maintain a strong understanding of current UX/UI design trends, best practices, and accessibility standards, and apply them appropriately to our products.

Who you are and what you bring to the team: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in UX/UI design for digital platforms, with a strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions for complex websites utilizing an enterprise content management system (CMS). Bachelor's degree in Digital Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered. Expert-level proficiency in Figma and a proven track record of working effectively with established design systems, including contributing to their evolution. Strong working knowledge of other relevant UX/UI tools such as Miro and Axure for user research, collaboration, and prototyping. Deep understanding and practical application of human-centered design principles and methodologies. Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement user-driven design solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and build strong, collaborative relationships across diverse functional teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and innovative approach to design challenges. Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic and evolving work environment. Demonstrated ability to understand complex scientific or technical concepts (ideally within the biotech or life sciences domain) and translate them into clear and effective user-centered designs.

Ideally, you have: Life sciences or biotech industry experience is a significant plus, demonstrating an understanding of the domain and its users.
