GENERAL SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced accountant to provide 12‐month maternity cover for one of our team. The role is a key part in our monthly financial closing and reporting process. Reporting to the Senior Financial Reporting Manager, this role will involve completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and reports for each entity currently supported by our shared service centre. The FA&R Manager will be supported by other team members currently working in this area (for Glasgow & PEIL) and will receive a full handover from the current incumbent.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monthly Tasks
- Business Unit 1
- Complete review of balance sheet reconciliations undertaken by reporting team
- Work with the payroll department to complete payroll journal, holiday and bonus accruals and overtime approval.
- Work with EY to review and submit monthly VAT return
- Complete fixed asset reconciliations and capex forecast - submit to Corporate
- Complete preliminary & final IC customer balance reconciliation; report to Corporate.
- Business Unit 2
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure completeness of journal entries in SAP
- Bad debt & WIP provisions
- DR balance reclass, GRIR, Prepaid inventory
- Loan revaluations
- Overtime accrual
- Prepaid Advances and Unearned Revenue/BIE Template
- Journal Completeness & SAP/HFM
- Review in any changes in SAP Master Data
- Work with EY to review and submit monthly VAT return
- Complete fixed asset reconciliations and capex forecast - submit to Corporate
- Complete preliminary & final IC customer balance reconciliation; report to Corporate.
- Business Unit 3
- Complete review of balance sheet reconciliations undertaken by reporting team
- Ensure completeness of journal entries in SAP
- Submit final numbers and reports to Corporate
- Complete preliminary & final IC customer balance reconciliation; report to Corporate.
- Year End Tasks
- Complete roll‐forwards in SAP for all shared‐service and Holdco entities.
- Ensure timely completion of reconciliations, reports and similar tasks
- Work with other team members and external stakeholders to meet reporting requirements (eg VAT)
- Communicate any issues in a timely manner to your line manager
- Identify and resolve financial issues that pose a threat to financial performance
- Hold recognized accounting qualification or equivalent experience
- Ability to interact with senior stakeholders in a proactive and professional manner
- Experience of improving control, process and rigour around financial and operational metrics with the ability to analyse and present accurate and concise management information
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work with complex financial models requiring excellent Excel skills to meet operational needs
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to analyse financial performance, identify trends and suggest improvements
- Ability to process large volumes of data to create valuable information for decision making purposes
- Prior experience of ERP systems desirable (preferably SAP & Hyperion, although not essential)
- Ability to embrace daily challenges to meet business requirements, and to be agile to ensure the business receives the necessary support by prioritising workload accordingly
- Ability to work well within deadlines and to deliver results on time
- Self‐starting with excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work in a team‐oriented matrix environment that is fast‐paced and demanding
