The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 £ per year.
The Welding Quality Engineer (Technical) will undertake process and product verification in line with company systems and management direction, ensuring parts are fully in accordance with applicable drawings and/or procedures. This will include purchased, manufactured and assembled items within the Glasgow (Cathcart) facility, in accordance with company policies and procedures to meet external regulations such as ISO 9001, ASME, EN 9712 (PCN) and SNT‑TC‑1A.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct all activities while maintaining the highest degree of ethics and integrity.
- Verification of product manufactured, purchased or assembled in accordance with applicable drawings, procedures, route cards or other detailed instructions.
- Monitor use of weld consumables in compliance with relevant WPS.
- Perform visual inspections of pre‑weld setups, in‑process welding activities and completed welds to ensure compliance with applicable PQRs/WPS.
- Conduct weld surveillance, recording necessary data when required by the project.
- Produce weld maps as required by projects.
- Perform final assembly dimensional inspection as per specified drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with internal departments to identify, define and resolve product quality problems related to welding/fabrication, while providing advice, guidance and support.
- Support welder qualification testing as required.
- Promote and adhere to Clyde Union Ltd Environmental Health and Safety policies, maintaining controls necessary to protect others.
- Develop self within role.
- Commit to training others to ensure workforce flexibility and meet business demands.
- Create and maintain good working relationships.
- Work reasonable hours necessary to meet job requirements.
- Travel to sister, vendor or customer sites; additional duties may be required on an ad‑hoc basis, requiring flexibility.
- Provide support beyond core duties to assist business aims.
- Ensure process compliance in relation to route cards and SAP transactions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 visual testing.
- Experience in fabrication, welding and assembly.
- Working knowledge of company SAP system (desirable).
- Experience of NDT processes/requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Basic level of computer proficiency.
- Experience of ISO 9001, NQA‑1, ASME codes and standards, RCC‑M, ASNT‑TC‑1A and EN ISO 9712 is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of EHS principles.
- Good communication (written and oral), influencing and interpersonal skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- High degree of integrity with highly professional conduct.
- Ability to work under own initiative with limited supervision.
