GENERAL SUMMARY
The Business Operations Systems Director is a senior leader responsible for driving ERP strategy and execution across the enterprise, with a strong focus on SAP ECC 6.0 in an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) heavy manufacturing environment. This position ensures ERP platforms, manufacturing and engineering systems deliver operational excellence, process standardization, and business value. The role requires exceptional leadership, project management expertise, and deep technical knowledge of SAP ECC 6.0 modules relevant to industrial and heavy manufacturing sectors and experience with engineering systems support and management.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the ERP and manufacturing systems roadmap aligned with corporate objectives. Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to standardize processes and optimize system usage. Influence technology investments and digital transformation initiatives to support ETO manufacturing. Lead any integration or separations for the areas in scope to support M&A as needed.
- Relationship Management: Oversee the day-to-day operational aspects of internal customer relationships with the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Legal Counsel and the Chief Financial Officer. Establish and maintain effective system of communication between IT and each business function. Ensure the business is aware of Enterprise IT initiatives which are aligned with the global business strategy.
- ERP Systems Management: Oversee implementation, upgrades, and optimization of SAP ECC 6.0 across all applicable modules (FI / CO, MM, PP, SD, QM, PM, PS). Ensure seamless integration between ERP and related systems. Oversee a team of 10 SAP professionals who are technical experts on the different SAP modules. Manage legacy ERPs (USOFT, AS400 and QuickBooks) and Document Management Systems. Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for ERP and manufacturing solutions. Hands-on SAP troubleshooting, configuration, functional and data management when required.
- Manufacturing Systems Oversight: Lead initiatives to enhance manufacturing execution systems and ensure alignment with ETO processes. Collaborate with plant leadership to support production efficiency, quality, and compliance. Implement best practices for system reliability, security, and disaster recovery.
- Engineering Systems Oversight: Lead initiatives to enhance engineering systems and ensure alignment with Engineering processes and systems. Lead 3 IT professionals who maintain and support Celeros FT Autodesk and SolidWorks environments. Implement best practices for system reliability and security.
- Demand & Project Management: Provide advice and consulting on how IT can support business developments or changes. Qualify the customer demand focusing on strategic needs, compliance issues and those providing highest business values. Agree priorities with the IT Leadership. Direct large-scale ERP and manufacturing system projects from initiation through delivery. Apply structured project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile) to ensure on-time, on-budget execution. Manage risk, scope, and stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Once approved, monitor and support their execution.
- Service Delivery (SD) Management: Maintain a detailed understanding of IT service offerings, delivery processes and technical capabilities. Coordinate, integrate and ensure that the delivery of all business facing services meet quality, scope and service level requirements. Review tickets focusing on aged tickets and escalations. Lead the problem resolution efforts and post-incident reviews. Identify improvement opportunities and facilitate their execution.
- Contract Management: Negotiate and renew Global Software maintenance and support contracts. Bring visibility of local contracts and align with the IT Corporate contract management processes, assist with new contract negotiations & renewals. Aligned with global standards, ensure the proper execution of procurement processes. Provide ad-hoc analysis & reports.
- Governance & Compliance: Establish governance frameworks for manufacturing systems, including change management and risk mitigation. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal IT policies.
- Cost Management: Facilitate the preparation of the annual budget planning. Proactively identify cost saving opportunities and execute centrally established cost savings targets.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team of analysts, developers, and systems specialists. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
- Project Management: Expertise in managing complex ERP projects with multiple workstreams.
- SAP ECC 6.0 Expertise: Deep experience across all relevant modules for industrial / heavy manufacturing and ETO environments. This should include FI, CO, MM, PP, PS and SD and GCR. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain, and finance integration.
- Understanding of Trade and Export Compliance best practices and its implementation in ERP environments.
- Understanding of ERP ancillary systems such as invoice processing, trade compliance and tax management.
- Strong understanding of engineering processes such as CAD, PLM and PDM.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environments.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Required Education / Experience: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Engineering, or Business Administration (Master’s preferred). 15+ years of experience in ERP and manufacturing systems leadership roles. Extensive hands-on experience with SAP ECC 6.0 implementations and optimizations in ETO manufacturing. Track record of managing multi-site ERP deployments and manufacturing system integrations.
- Preferred Education / Experience: Prior experience supporting executives and/or working in a professional environment. PMP or equivalent project management certification. Experience with SAP S/4HANA migration planning. Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Familiarity with Engineering Systems such as Autodesk, SolidWorks or ANSYS.
