GENERAL SUMMARY

The primary function of the Assembly Cell Lead is to act as the first line of leadership, which is accountable for the effective operation of their cell. This includes front line management of the cell team when allocating daily tasks, managing performance and development issues, cell workflow, as well as meticulously maintaining standards and KPI’s.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITY

  • Liaise directly with the Planner to ensure visible schedule and delivery to schedule
  • Allocate work to team in line with schedule
  • Conduct periodic audits, including (but not exhaustive) compliance, HSEQ, 5S
  • Identify and deliver improvements that come from the audit process and any other ad hoc situation.
  • To manage the team to maintain the work area to “visit ready” standard at all times.
  • Implement visual management and maintain with “up to date” status.
  • Ensure accurate records of team competencies and training plans to address gaps
  • Deliver regular communications to Team Members, including Toolbox talks etc.
  • Conduct returns to work interviews, manage sickness and absence and all input into the personal database.
  • Coach, develop and performance manage direct Team Members.
  • Liaise with appropriate support functions to resolve issues and production stops.
  • Proactive Business team culture and flexibility.

SCOPE/MEASUREMENT OF PERFORMANCE

  • On target to planned hours
  • 100% on time compliance / HSEQ / 5S audits
  • Reduction in non-conformities.

QUALIFICATION / KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of Hydro set-up and testing (including high- and low-pressure processes). Aware of associated risks including Health and Safety.
  • Understanding of Assembly and balancing of rotating equipment processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Pump assembly.
  • Accurate completion of all associated paperwork in the line with procedures and processes.
  • Time served fitter or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge of ClydeUnion product and manufacturing methods.
  • Proven track record in building effective teams and has the assertiveness and drive to ensure that their team meets operational goals and that Team Members are strongly managed.
  • Strong focus on delivery of output to achieve bottom line results; has strong awareness of what is needed to make this happen when under pressure.
  • Drives their team to achieve improvement initiatives that positively affect the bottom line
  • Strong interpersonal skills and knowing when to use them and with whom; this will include managing conflict; setting standards and being assertive enough with Team Members to ensure they are kept this way.
  • Having a strong range of skills to effectively manage the cell area; for example, the layout, maintaining health & safety, Environment, Quality standards and the flow within the cell.
